Where to Snowshoe in Vernon:

The majority of hiking trails in Vernon can be transformed into snowshoeing trails in the winter. If you want a detailed list and map with all available trails, check out the Ribbons of Green website. Listed below are some of the popular snowshoeing trails.


1. Silver Star Provincial Park

A 30-minute drive will lead you to this winter wonderland. Picture soft, fluffy trails through snow-blanketing trees. Beautiful! There are 3 options for snowshoeing in Silver Star Provincial Park:


a. SilverStar Resort

SilverStar Resort has 16 km of singletrack snowshoeing trails marked with hand-carved wooden signs and reflective markers. Once you've had enough snowshoeing for the day, head into the Village to enjoy some shopping, food, and drinks. Dogs are allowed on snowshoeing trails with a leash and trail tickets need to be purchased.

Rentals: $25/day for adults/youth and $20/day for seniors/child

Tickets: Adult: $14, child/youth/senior: $12


b. Sovereign Lake Nordic Center

Sovereign Lake Nordic Center has over 14 km of snowshoe trails in addition to cross-country skiing. Bring your lunch and enjoy it at Black Prince Cabin along with a wood stove inside. Purchase tickets in advance on their website for day passes. Dogs are not allowed.

Rentals: $25/day for adults/youth and $20/day for seniors/child

Tickets: Children/youth/seniors: $8, Adults: $10, Under 5-free


c. Silver Star Provincial Park

There is a section of trails between Sovereign (on the same road) and SilverStar Resort, with 2 parking lots as well as pit toilets. Snowshoeing here is free however there are no rental options unless you rent from one of the stores in town. Dogs are allowed on snowshoeing trails with a leash.

Tickets: Free

Parking: Head towards Sovereign Lake Nordic center and keep following the road to the overflow parking.

2. Predator Ridge

Located 20 minutes from Vernon, Predator Ridge has over 12 km of designated snowshoe trails. The most popular trail is the Okanagan Lake Lookout Loop which gives you a view over Okanagan Lake. Furthermore, there is a picnic table to enjoy your coffee or lunch. Once you finished your busy day of snowshoeing, head to The Range located at Predator Ridge Resort for some much-needed food and drinks. Dogs are allowed on snowshoeing trails with a leash.

Rentals: Pick up rentals at Commons Racquet Clubhouse: $10/2-hour or $20/day.

Parking: There are a few parking lots but the most popular one is just before the roundabout going up to Sparkling Hill Resort with a trail map



3. Ellison Provincial Park

A 30-minute drive from Vernon, offering multi-connecting trails allowing you to adjust the length based on your ability. All trail intersections are well marked, with a trail map at the start, along with a pit toilet. With this in mind, the Ellison Connector connects to Predator Ridge, allowing for a longer option. Dogs are allowed on trails with a leash.





4. Kalamalka Provincial Park

Kalamalka Provincial Park has over 14 km of trails, allowing you to snowshoe depending on snow levels. There are trail lengths for everyone, including a frozen waterfall if you can find it. Dogs are allowed on trails with a leash.

Snowshoe Rentals in Vernon
